Trey Yesavage turned in a legendary performance and Schneider connected for a homer on the opening pitch as the Blue Jays beat the Dodgers six to one on Wednesday evening, needing just one more triumph of their first title since the 1993 season.

Yesavage's Historic Outing

The young Yesavage, who made his major league debut in September, fanned a dozen batters without a single walk – achieving a historic World Series first. The first-year pitcher surrendered just one run on three hits over seven frames. He started the season in Class A before sparse crowds, but has now earned two starting wins in the series in this seven-game set.

Early Offensive Explosion

Toronto’s hitters jumped out to a fast lead. On the first pitch of the game, Schneider drilled a 97-mile-per-hour heater and homered to left field. Just moments later, Vladimir Guerrero Jr followed with another blast to almost the exact same place. It marked the unprecedented occurrence in the World Series that back-to-back homers started a game, shocking the spectators before most had settled in.

The Pitcher's Dominance

Yesavage then assumed command. He retired five straight via strikeout between the early frames, establishing a new rookie mark before Hernández ended the run with a solo homer in the third inning to make it two to one. That was the nearest the Dodgers came.

Extending the Lead

In the fourth, Daulton Varsho tripled down the right-field line after a defensive mistake, and Ernie Clement lifted a sacrifice fly to bring him home for a three to one lead. The Dodgers’ offensive struggles deepened from there. After managing six runs in a lengthy extra-inning contest, they’ve managed only four across the past 29 innings.

Seventh-Inning Rally

The Dodgers starter battled through six and two-thirds innings but couldn’t escape the seventh after the bases became full. The two inherited runners scored – via a wild pitch and the other on a run-scoring hit – to extend the lead to 5–1. A hit in the eighth provided the final margin.

Relievers Seal the Deal

Yesavage received a standing ovation upon leaving from the Blue Jays supporters, and the pen closed it out. The bullpen arms each worked a scoreless inning to close it out, combining for three strikeouts while preserving the rookie’s masterpiece.

Dodgers' Lineup Shuffle Falters

The Dodgers, who rearranged their batting order in an attempt to generate runs, again found little traction. Their key batter went hitless in four at-bats and is now hitless in seven at-bats since a record-setting on-base performance in Game 3.

On the Verge of a Championship

Now holding a 3-2 lead, Toronto head back to their home ballpark with two chances to clinch. Game 6 is Friday night at their home field.
